The Hydrocone Mantle is one of the main components in the crushing section of a hydrocone crusher, playing a critical role in the crushing process. This part operates under high pressure and alongside other machine components to perform the crushing of rocks.
Stone quarries are locations where various stones, aggregates, slabs, and sand are extracted from the earth. Most of these quarries are open-pit mines, allowing the extraction of different minerals. Quarries that primarily produce cobbles and construction materials are referred to as “stone quarries.”
One of the most valuable outputs of these quarries is sand and gravel, which is produced using the hydrocone cone crusher. The mantle and concave are the two main steel components responsible for crushing and producing uniform sand and gravel.

The Hydrocone Mantle is widely used in hydrocone crushers and is available in three types:
Manganese Type:
Higher wear compared to other types
No molybdenum, resulting in higher corrosion
Manganese-Molybdenum Type:
Contains 0.3%, 0.5%, or 0.8% Mo to prevent corrosion
Special Type:
Higher manganese and molybdenum content increases wear and corrosion resistance
Choice depends on the hardness of the quarry rock
Typical manganese content is 12%, but for harder rocks, it is better to increase up to 14% with minimum 0.5–0.8% molybdenum
Machining Accuracy:
The concave and mantle must be precisely machined without any asymmetry
Accurate angles are crucial, otherwise:
The part will wear faster
Placement on the top shell will not be correct
Installation on the head center will be improper
Changing the type of mantle directly controls the output material size
Using Mantle 2 with Concave 2 or 4 enables fine crushing (Hydrocone Rizeshkan / sand production)
Using Mantle 4 with Concave 4, 5, 6.5, 7, or 8 is suitable for producing coarse sand (Hydrocone Superior / coarse crusher)
Changing the top shell can also convert the hydrocone into a primary or cobble crusher
| Crusher Model | Mantle | Top Shell |
|---|---|---|
| Hydrocone 36-2 | Mantle 2 | Top Shell 4 |
| Hydrocone 36-4 | Mantle 4 | Top Shell 4 |
| Hydrocone 36-5 | Mantle 4 | Top Shell 5.5 |
| Hydrocone 36-6.5 | Mantle 4 | Top Shell 6.5 |
| Hydrocone 36-8 | Mantle 4 | Top Shell 8 |
