Introduction to jaw crusher and its application in mines

A jaw crusher is a device used for the primary crushing of rocks. This device has two jaws: a fixed jaw and a movable jaw that pressurizes and crushes rocks with a reciprocating motion. The inlet and outlet openings are adjustable so that the final size of the crushed material is appropriate for the needs of the production line. This simple but robust mechanism enables the device to crush a variety of hard rocks such as granite, basalt, and quartz.

Factors affecting the price of jaw crusher

The price of a jaw crusher varies depending on the capacity, opening size, and quality of parts. New machines and reputable brands are more expensive, while second-hand machines are cheaper but may need repair. After-sales service and installation also affect the price.

Jaw crusher working principle and mechanism

  1. The stones first enter the upper opening of the jaw crusher through the feeder and are fed evenly so that the moving jaw can apply the necessary crushing pressure and prevent blockage.
  2. The stones are then guided towards the moving jaw, and this jaw pushes the stones towards the fixed jaw with a reciprocating motion created by the crank and toggle, and the initial crushing is done.
  3. The mechanical pressure and angle of the jaws cause the stones to break and reduce their size, so that the reduction ratio is usually between 3:1 and 6:1.
  4. The crushed stones move towards the lower opening of the machine and their final size is controlled by adjusting the gap between the jaws (CSS).
  5. Finally, the stones are discharged from the outlet opening and are ready for consumption or entering the next stage of crushing.

Of course, you should know that the jaw movement speed, angle, and motor power determine the quality of crushing and production capacity, and the toggle, in addition to transmitting power, also plays a protective role. If a very large stone enters the machine, it prevents damage to the jaws and motor.

Jaw crusher repair and maintenance

Regular maintenance and timely repair of the jaw crusher will increase the useful life of the machine, prevent sudden stoppage of the production line, and reduce repair costs. It is very important to observe safety precautions and a regular repair schedule.

FAQs about Jaw crusher

1. What is a jaw crusher?

A jaw crusher is a device used for the primary crushing of rocks and minerals. This device has two jaws; one fixed and the other movable, which crushes the rocks by reciprocating motion.

The laboratory jaw crusher has a low capacity and its small dimensions are suitable for sampling and research tests, while the industrial jaw crusher has a high capacity and large dimensions and is used for crushing rocks in mines and large-volume industrial projects.

Choosing the right size depends on several factors: the size of the input rocks, the required capacity of the mine, and the needs of the production line. For small mines with low rock volumes, a small or laboratory jaw crusher is sufficient. However, for industrial mines with large rocks and high workloads, an industrial jaw crusher with an opening of 80 x 100 cm or larger is usually used to have adequate crushing capacity and maintain production line efficiency.
