The hydrocone mantle is one of the main components in the crushing section of the hydrocone crusher, which plays an important role in this process. This piece, under intense pressure and alongside other components of the device, performs the operation of crushing rocks.
The role of the mantle in stone mines
Stone mines are places where various types of rocks, aggregates, rubble, slate, and sand are extracted from the heart of the mountain and the earth. These mines are open-pit mines and provide the possibility of extracting various minerals. Open pit mines, whose main products are rubble and construction materials, are known as “stone mines.”
One of the valuable and capital-generating products of stone mines is sand, the production of which is considered one of the main tasks of the cone crusher. The task of producing sand and sand in this device is carried out by two heavy steel pieces called the mantle and the concave.

Hydrocon Mantle Features:
- The concave mantle of the hydrocone is one of the most widely used parts of this machine, which is produced in the following three types:
- Manganese type: has higher wear than other types and lacks the molybdenum element, which leads to greater corrosion of the part.
- Manganese molybdenum type: contains 0.3%, 0.5% or 0.8% molybdenum, which prevents corrosion of the part.
- A special model
- The higher the percentage of manganese and molybdenum in these parts, the greater the resistance to wear and corrosion.
- The choice of the type of concave mantle depends on the application of the hydrocone machine and the hardness of the target ore. For harder stones, it is more appropriate to use a concave mantle with a higher percentage of manganese and molybdenum.
- The usual percentage of manganese in these pieces is 12%, but as the hardness of the stones increases, it is better to increase this percentage to 14% and the minimum molybdenum used should be 0.5% to 0.8%.
- The concave mantel must be cut with high precision and without any double width. The cutting angles must be accurate and standard, otherwise:
- The piece will wear faster.
- The concave will not fit well on the top shell.
- The mantel will not be installed correctly on the head center.
Choosing a superior quality mantel is of great importance Durable materials, precision manufacturing, and compliance with standards can result in a longer useful life, efficiency, and reduced repair costs.
Changing and replacing the hydrocon mantle
- By changing the type of mantle, the output load from the device can be controlled.
- Using Mantel 2 with Conque 2 or 4 provides the use of a sand maker or a fine-crushing hydrocone.
- Using Mantel 4 with Conque 4, 5, 6/5, 7 or 8 is suitable for producing coarse sand, which is called a superior hydrocone or coarse crusher.
- Changing the type of topshell can also change the use of the hydrocone crusher to a primary crusher or a rubble crusher.
Mantles in types of hydrocon crushers
As we said, the mantle is placed on the head center shaft, which changes the size of the input and output rock of the hydrocon crusher by changing the size of the mantle and the accompanying parts.
| Crusher model | Mantle | Topshell |
|---|---|---|
| Hydrocon crusher model 36-2 | Mantle 2 | Topshell 4 |
| Hydrocon Stone Crusher Model 36-4 | Mantel 4 | Topshell 4 |
| Hydrocon Stone Crusher Model 36-5 | Mantel 4 | Topshell 5/5 |
| Hydrocon Stone Crusher Model 36-6/5 | Mantel 4 | Topshell 6/5 |
| Hydrocon Stone Crusher Model 36-8 | Mantel 4 | Topshell 8 |
Types of hydrocone crushers that change their use due to changes made to the mantle and other parts:
| Crusher Model | Mantle | Topshell |
|---|---|---|
| Hydrocone Crusher Model 36-2 | Mantle 2 | Topshell 4 |
| Hydrocone Crusher Model 36-4 | Mantle 4 | Topshell 4 |
| Hydrocon Stone Crusher Model 36-5 | Mantel 4 | Topshell 5/5 |
| Hydrocon Stone Crusher Model 36-6/5 | Mantel 4 | Topshell 6/5 |
| Hydrocon Stone Crusher Model 36-8 | Mantel 4 | Topshell 8 |
